On September 6, I had the opportunity to visit the laboratories of Professors Volker Weihnacht, Stefan Makowski, and Frank Kaufuss at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (IWS) in Germany. Our laboratory has had a long-standing collaboration with IWS, and the professors kindly visited us last October.

During this visit, I was given the opportunity to tour their laboratories and present our recent research on “3D nanocoating of ta-C films,” “design of antibacterial and antiviral DLC films,” and “synthesis of two-dimensional nanomaterials and their heterostructures.” After the visit, we enjoyed a delightful dinner together featuring traditional Dresden cuisine at a restaurant near the Frauenkirche.
